ENROLMENT

 

Students must complete the enrolment form online, and provide payment after receiving our invoice. Enrolment will be considered valid when the conditions above are met. Students will receive a confirmation message.

For online lessons payment is made upfront for a month’s classes.

 

ABSENCE AND COURSE INTERRUPTION

 

LPOB reserves the right to not make any kind of refund if the student misses classes or decides to drop the course and cancel his/her stay in Brazil.

LPOB may examine extreme cases, such as repatriation for health reasons, or certified illness only. In these cases, the lessons remaining may be postponed for a second stay or converted into online lessons.

 

CANCELLATION/TERMINATION POLICIES – REFUND

 

‘Cancellation’ refers to the period up to the start date of the course you will attend.

For cancellations due to visa rejections, a written notification and relevant supporting documentation must be presented to LPOB at least 15 days before the arrival date.

Upon receipt of relevant supporting documentation, 100% of the tuition, accommodation will be refunded. A cancellation fee equivalent to 1 week of accommodation and tuition will apply if we receive written evidence of visa rejection less than 15 days prior to the arrival date. Any bank fees for receiving or sending money from another country will be discounted from the refund.

For non-visa-related cancellations and postponements made 15 days or more before the arrival date on the booking confirmation form, 80% of the tuition and 100% of the accommodation paid will be refunded. For non-visa-related cancellations and postponements made less than 15 days before the arrival date, 80% of the tuition and accommodation fees paid will be refunded. Any bank fees for receiving or sending money from another country will be discounted from the refund.

In all cases, the express mail fee (when needed), bank transfer or credit card fees, differences due to currency exchange rate changes, and any other service charged, paid by LPOB, are non-refundable.

‘Termination’ means stopping or leaving all or part of the course or courses booked, including extensions, once the first class has started.

In all cases, no refunds will be made after the arrival date. Students who terminate their program may not be eligible to receive a certificate of completion.

All the cancellation requests must be in writing and be sent to the LPOB email. Please note that cancellations/terminations are exceedingly rare in our market.

  

BEHAVIOR

 

Should a student show an abnormal behavior or bad intentions against the program, teachers, other students, or Brazilian laws, LPOB reserves the right to exclude him/her from the program at any time.

 

USE OF PROMOTIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEO FOOTAGE

 

LPOB may take promotional photographs and video footage of students in order to use in promotional material. If the student does not consent, he or she must inform us by email or in the enrollment form.

 

HOLIDAYS

 

There will be no extra classes to make up in case of public holidays. If there are 2 public holidays during the same week, students will have one extra class for making up 1 of those 2 holidays.

Accepting this term the students confirm that they are responsible for informing themselves of the dates of public holidays in our country. This information is available on our website.

 

COURSE FEATURES

 

 – The in person courses are individual.

 – The online courses are individual.

 – During busy periods, lessons may be transferred to the afternoon.

 – One-hour lesson lasts 50 minutes;

 – Course fee includes: tuition, material for the current level of the students, student advising service and certificates. Students will need to purchase a new book when they reach a new level.

 

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

 

No matter the program the students chose, we can organize, tours of the historic parts of Olinda and Recife, visits to museums, churches and open air markets; culture classes, Brazilian cinema sessions and cooking classes.

We can also support our students to find capoeira lessons, percussion and other activities of interest.

These activities take place based on student demand and our capacity to organize them. LPOB reserves the right to change these activities at any time or cancel them due to force majeure. 

 

ACCOMMODATION

 

Although we suggest and offer accommodation with a Brazilian family home, LPOB can arrange other type of accommodation (hotels, hostels, pousadas or house/apartment rentals). We can offer valid prices 45 days before the start of the course, prices vary depending on whether it’s high or low season in Brazil.

If the student decides to stay in a Homestay we will provide a document with all the information and photos of the host family 15 days before the start date. Keep in mind that we have a document with the rules for acceptable behavior as a homestay guest and this must be read and followed during your stay, under penalty of being removed in case of inconvenience to the family.

 

INSURANCE

 

Students are advised to take out medical and personal insurance before leaving their home country. LPOB declines all responsibility for thefts, damages or losses. However, we will not be indifferent to the students and will try to help them in all situations.

 

TRANSFER

 

When choosing this option the student will provide flight number, date, hour (using this format 1:00h and 13:00h) at least 15 days before arrival.

If the flight arrives early, the student will need to wait for our driver, they must inform us of any delay or cancellation with sufficient time to reschedule the service.

It is the policy of the airport to not allow parking without flight information.

Please note, the most important information for us is the details of the flight arriving in Recife, we need this information to offer the best possible service to our clients.

Our transfer does not include carrying big objects as a bicycle. The student will need to pay an extra fee for this service.
